Álvaro is a passionate developer and agile enthusiast with over 23 years of experience. He is now a Principal Member of Technical Staff at Oracle Labs, where he is a Micronaut committer, helping to maintain and evolve the open-source framework. Before that, he was a Staff Engineer at VMWare, where he led the creation of new products to build, package, verify and publish software solutions with confidence in the VMware Marketplace. Previously, he spent some years working in different industries like gambling games (Odobo) and fintech (4Finance). 𝐒𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐢𝐥𝐞: Micronaut 4 Hands-On Lab 𝗦𝘆𝗻𝗼𝗽𝘀𝗶𝘀: Micronaut is a modern, JVM-based, full stack Java framework designed for building modular, easily testable JVM applications. This self-paced, instructor-assisted workshop covers the following topics: - Using Micronaut Launch to create a project. - Creating the data access layer using Micronaut Data JDBC. - Using Micronaut Test Resources for Testcontainers integration. - Implementing a REST API. - Testing with the declarative HTTP client. - Using GraalVM to generate a native executable.

Emily Jiang is a Java Champion. She is Liberty Cloud Native Architect and Chief Advocate, Senior Technical Staff Member (STSM) in IBM, based at Hursley Lab in the UK. Emily is a MicroProfile and Jakarta EE guru and also a book author (ibm.biz/MicroProfileBook). At IBM, she leads the effort of implementing MicroProfile and Jakarta EE specifications on Open Liberty. She is passionate about MicroProfile and Jakarta EE. She regularly speaks at conferences, such as QCon, Code One, DevNexus, JAX London, Voxxed, Devoxx, EclipseCon, GeeCon, JFokus, etc. 𝐒𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐢𝐥𝐞: Master the Cloud Native Application Standard: MicroProfile (from zero to serverless) 𝗦𝘆𝗻𝗼𝗽𝘀𝗶𝘀: You might have heard of MicroProfile being talked about in the past few years. So far, about a dozen runtimes, such as Open Liberty, Quarkus, Helidon, Payara, TomEE, Apache Geronimo, etc, support MicroProfile and it has become a standard for developing cloud-native microservices. Come to this session to learn everything you need to know about MicroProfile and get your knowledge up to date on the latest release of MicroProfile, MicroProfile 6.1, with a live demo to showcase how easy it is to master MicroProfile. In addition, Emily will also cover the DevOps, from building, containerization and then deployment. This practical session ends with a live demo to show how to get a MicroProfile application running as serverless using Open Liberty InstantOn (CRIU technology, https://criu.org/).

Worldpay processes over 170's of millions events daily, with tight SLAs for scheme clearing, merchants payment and report delivery. The session will cover: how and why we use AWS EMR serverless to service our Big Data needs and our Dockerless approach to developing locally as we strive for environment consistency.
